INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE ORGANISATION PRIMARY YEARS PROGRAMME
The academic programme of the Primary School is focussed on building strong literacy and numeracy skills, embracing the philosophy and teaching methods of the International Baccalaureate Organisation's Primary Years Programme and its emphasis on Inquiry learning.
The International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) is a non-profit education foundation based in Geneva, Switzerland. The IBO is a recognised leader in education and encourages students to be active learners, well-rounded individuals and engaged world citizens.
The International Baccalaureate Organisation’s Primary Years Programme (PYP) is recognised as world’s best practice in Primary education and is based on research and experience. IBO programmes are in place in over 2511 schools in 132 countries world wide and 117 schools in Australia are now authorised with over 100 more holding Candidate status.
At the heart of the PYP philosophy is a commitment to structured, purposeful Inquiry as the leading vehicle for learning.
Children at John Wollaston, as part of the PYP, are encouraged to be inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced and reflective.
The School has been authorised by the IBO as a Candidate School for the PYP. |
