ABOUT THE PRIMARY
Primary School students at John Wollaston are encouraged to grow and develop academically, creatively, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
Our double stream Primary School also has shared areas between classes for use of laptop pods or small groups. All classes have interactive whiteboards installed and access to a wireless network for use with laptops and desktop computers.
The academic programme of the Primary School is focussed on building strong literacy and numeracy skills, embracing the philosophy and teaching methods of the International Baccalaureate Organiastion's Primary Years Programme and its emphasis on Inquiry learning. Art, Music, Japanese, Physical Education and Information and Inquiry Skills are supported with specialist teachers.
A wide range of co-curricular clubs are offered after school. Examples of these include, chess, computing, robotics, cooking, sewing, beading, Tournament of the Minds, Cross Country and Athletics.
As a Kindergarten to Year 12 school, our Primary students benefit with access to the full range of outstanding facilities available at John Wollaston including a fully equipped gymnasium, music studios and theatre, visual arts studio and Library Resource Centre.
MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF PRIMARY
I am proud to be leading the Primary School of John Wollaston Anglican Community School. It is a special place in which to teach and learn.
The School is a caring Christian community. We believe that every child is precious in the eyes of God- especially valued no matter their race, gender, creed, religious or social background and physical or intellectual ability.
I would urge you to arrange a visit to the Primary School. (Please call the Registrar, Mrs Ann Brightmore on 9495 8150 or email us for an appointment.) During your visit you will find buildings in excellent condition with spacious playgrounds, sports fields and classrooms. You will have an opportunity to meet our outstanding staff and some of our amazing children who make up our school.
All of the staff who work at John Wollaston are professional, committed and highly trained. They are dedicated to delivering the best educational experience to your child.
I am very excited about the International Baccalaureate's Primary Years Programme. Not only is this a very effective way for children to learn but it excites them about learning and caters very well to individual learning styles. At John Wollaston we are committed to ensuring that all children have the opportunity to consolidate their basic skills. We achieve this in an environment of positive and motivating learning experiences. Your child will receive a high quality education with us.
I am happy to answer any of your questions about the primary years and would welcome the opportunity to speak with you.
I am very proud of our School. I hope you will consider becoming a member of this exciting community and help us take the School from strength to strength.
Mr John Stewart
Head of Primary
