FAME Jr

The 2025 Secondary Musical Production of Fame Jr has come to a close after four fantastic performances, all warmly received by enthusiastic audiences. As a school, we are fortunate to have such a supportive community that comes together to celebrate the Arts.

The production has been in the works since the end of 2024, with students auditioning to take part in the show. We were blessed to be overwhelmed by the number of students and the quality of talent that auditioned. Rehearsals began earlier this year with a final cast of 36 students, spanning Years 7-12. Students’ dedication and time given to the production whilst keeping on top of all their other commitments is to be commended. For some, it was their first production at John Wollaston, whilst others have trodden the boards here many times. For our dedicated Year 12s, this production was a meaningful farewell – your presence will be greatly missed, and we hope to welcome you back in the future.

Whilst the actors on stage may receive all the glory of performing in front of a live audience, the show wouldn’t be possible without the work of the crew. We were lucky to have 25 outstanding students, who worked to create the world of the play, make sure everything ran as it should and ensured the audience had an enjoyable theatre experience.

My sincere and heartfelt thanks go to Mr Rory Marchant and Ms Rhiannon Thomas for all their work on this production. Both have given so freely of their time and talents to bring the show to life. Their support and guidance of the students have been exceptional and without them none of this would have been possible.

It has been a joy to direct this show. The laughter, energy, and camaraderie among students and staff have made it a truly memorable experience,

Mr Christian Devellerez

Fame Jr was my 16th, and last, show as a student at JWACS, so being cast as Serena was truly a privilege. I got to grow and develop my skills as a performer, whilst being able to work with some incredibly talented students. Whether we were acting, dancing, or singing, Mr Devellerez, Miss Thomas and Mr Marchant were always there for us, providing us with guidance and knowledge. From day one, our amazing cast and crew came together, bonded over our mutual love for the Arts, and got to create live theatre for the school community.

Not only have I learnt so much, but we all had so much fun. We made new friends in those who decided to audition for the first time, as well as strengthening existing ones with those who had done shows before.

Overall, it was an amazing experience, and I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to work with. Thank you to Mr Devellerez, Miss Thomas and Mr Marchant for all the time you put into this production, we couldn’t have done it without you! And congratulations to my fellow cast and crew members – we did it!
