Technologies

The Innovation, Design and Technologies Department at John Wollaston is committed to providing students with a comprehensive and engaging learning experience. The Western Australian (WA) Curriculum divides Technologies learning area into two subjects: Design and Technologies and Digital Technologies.

Students have the unique opportunity to sample four different design and technology options in Year 7. These include Woodwork, Metalwork, Food and Textiles. In Years 9 and 10, students can select from a range of elective options which includes Materials and Design, Food Specialisation, Textiles and Childcare. Under the Digital Technologies subject, students can select options such as Gaming Design, Creative Computing, Cyber Safety and Computer Science.

All these options can be further pursued in Years 11 and 12. The Innovation, Design and Technologies department is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including a commercial kitchen, providing students with hands-on experience in a professional environment. These resources enhance the learning experience, allowing students to apply their knowledge in real-world settings.
