Year 6 Students visit Parliament

In Week 3, our Year 6 students visited Parliament House, the Constitution Centre and the Electoral Education Centre as part of their Who We Are unit of inquiry. The excursion provided a valuable opportunity to explore leadership, governance and the democratic process in action.

Throughout the day, students stepped into the roles of lawmakers, voters and leaders. They observed parliamentary proceedings, learned how voting works and even conducted their own debates.

It was an engaging and memorable experience that brought classroom learning to life.

You can read some Year 6 student reflections below:

Zack – My favourite part of the day was watching the voting count for our favourite chocolate and meeting Attorney General Dr Tony Buti.

Mason – I learnt how voting works. When we sat in the chairs in the Legislative Council, I felt famous!

Zuri – My favourite part of the excursion was watching a live debate in the Lower House, also known as the Legislative Assembly, and making our own debate in the Upper House, also known as the Legislative Council.
